Terraria modded hosting — tModLoader / Calamity for a friends squad (2026)

This page is for modded Terraria — tModLoader stacks (Calamity / Thorium-class), matching client+server mod versions, world upload paths, and honest install claims for a Discord squad — not a quiet vanilla 4-friend dig. It is not the same job as Night 9 Terraria friend server (vanilla + light tModLoader overview first), Night 8 Minecraft modpacks (CurseForge / Modrinth one-click), Night 77 Minecraft Java, or Night 83 Factorio modded. Among our six hosts (checked 24 Oct 2026, NZDT): Shockbyte, Apex, BisectHosting, Nodecraft, and GameTeam sell Terraria (product URLs returned 200 on full GET — curl HEAD 403 is not absence). PebbleHost returned 404 on Terraria product paths and Terraria is absent from its catalog we read. tModLoader / one-click claims below come only from each host’s own Terraria product copy or FAQ — we do not invent a tModLoader one-click claim where the listing never prints it. Clients and server must run the same tModLoader build and mod list.

RAM / slots / world honesty: modded vs friend-vanilla

  • Friend vanilla / light tShock (Night 9 job): hosts often card about 2 GB for a small Discord (Shockbyte Vanilla 2 GB / 4 players; Apex 1 GB “Minimum for Terraria”; GameTeam FAQ 2–4 GB for vanilla).
  • tModLoader light packs (this page, small stacks): treat 2–4 GB as the working floor. Shockbyte’s named Modded tier is 4 GB / 12 players; Nodecraft Premium cards 2 / 4 / 6 GB; Apex “Basic servers & some modpacks” on 1 / 2 / 4 GB.
  • Calamity / Thorium / large stacks: start around 4 GB and plan headroom — Shockbyte Custom 5 GB+; Nodecraft Premium 4–6 GB; GameTeam FAQ: “tModLoader with a large mod list is the case that wants more.” Do not reuse Minecraft ATM RAM tables — different products.
  • Slots ≠ RAM: Shockbyte 4 / 12 / 15+ players and GameTeam FAQ “8–16 comfortably” are ceilings. Large worlds + dense mods hurt more than the marketing slot number — pay for GB, a documented tModLoader path, and backups.
  • Client + server + world sync: every client must match the server’s tModLoader build and mod list/versions. Upload a local world over FTP/SFTP (or use the host’s file manager). Nodecraft copy: “Already have a world? Upload it over FTP…” Confirm the host’s install notes before wipe night — do not assume a Minecraft-style CurseForge one-click unless the Terraria listing literally prints a tModLoader / modpack installer path.

tModLoader / install path — host claims only

  • Shockbyte: Named plan tier Modded (12 players / 4 GB). Features list tModloader Support, tShock Support, Vanilla Support, and Full FTP Access. Copy: servers “optimized to handle a variety of mods, including tModLoader and TShock.” A separate CurseForge-style one-click installer is not named beyond that support list — FTP + tModLoader/tShock support is the honest claim.
  • Apex Hosting: Plan blurbs say “Basic servers & some modpacks” (1 / 2 / 4 GB); 1 GB marked “Minimum for Terraria.” Help/docs cover Vanilla, tModLoader, and TShock server types and “How to Setup and Use tModLoader” / install tModLoader mods. Marketing mentions mod-centric Terraria. Treat as panel server-type + docs path — do not invent a Calamity one-click from “some modpacks” alone.
  • BisectHosting: Hero lists Full Support for tMod 1.3.4 & 1.4.4 and Full Plugin Support for tShock. Section: “INSTALL POPULAR TERRARIA MODPACKS IN JUST A FEW CLICKS”; names tModLoader, Calamity, and Starlight River; automatic updates cover tMod / TShock / Vanilla. Exact $/GB plan total did not render as a clear number on the Terraria page we read (TBD at checkout); BisectOne llms.txt cites ~$2.99/GB network-wide — not a Terraria-specific printed plan total.
  • Nodecraft: Landing: “tModLoader mods supported”; “One Click Install: tModLoader, tShock & more” via One Click Installer on Nodecraft Pro; “install your favorite Terraria mods with tModLoader”; FAQ: Modded Terraria through the tModLoader game branch; FTP world upload. Sizer asks “How modded is your world?” (Vanilla / a few mods / heavily modded). Premium 24/7 vs Budget Wake & Play / Lite — use Premium/Pro for persistence on a always-on squad night.
  • GameTeam: FAQ: “Can I install mods when hosting Terraria? Yes, through tModLoader…” Mods server-side; clients must match version and mod list. Marketing: copilot configures vanilla or modded and “for tModLoader, keeps the mod list matched”; “Version Mismatch — Named.” Clearest FAQ-named tModLoader + mismatch handling among our six. RAM FAQ: 2–4 GB vanilla; large tMod lists need more.
  • PebbleHost: Terraria product URLs we tried returned 404 (or soft-home with zero Terraria copy); Terraria absent from catalog paths we read (24 Oct 2026). No sellable Terraria SKU to quote for mods or price — 404, not invented TBD pricing.

tModLoader is not Minecraft “one-click modpacks” unless the host literally prints a Terraria tModLoader / modpack installer path (Nodecraft One Click Install + Bisect “few clicks” / Full Support for tMod; Shockbyte and Apex document support + FTP/panel; GameTeam FAQ names tModLoader). Backup first, match client + server versions, and expect big packs to break on game patches. Prefer Night 9 when you want quiet vanilla / light tMod.

Comparison: modded Terraria plans

Price sources: every figure below comes from the host’s own Terraria product / pricing page (checked 24 Oct 2026, NZDT). Recurring monthly preferred; first-month sales disclosed where shown. 404 when the product URL returned not found. TBD when a sellable host had no clear plan total. Product URLs that sell returned 200 on full GET — curl HEAD 403 is not absence. Confirm at checkout — stock and location change.

Oceania / AU–NZ–SG latency wedge

  • Nodecraft: Sydney / Melbourne / Auckland / Singapore listed on the Terraria page — best published Oceania/SEA story; Premium 24/7 for persistence; confirm Terraria capacity on order.
  • Shockbyte: Melbourne-based + Terraria product page with Global Locations — still pick the node on order and ping-test with the mod list loaded (boss fights / item pickup feel sluggish above ~150 ms).
  • Apex: EX Series APAC/AU Ryzen 5800X marketed — confirm Sydney (or closest) for standard tiers at checkout.
  • BisectHosting: 21 locations marketed; out-of-stock / waitlist has appeared — treat Australia as a checkout checkbox (network-wide BisectOne / llms.txt).
  • GameTeam: Oceania for Terraria not named on the page we read — TBD.
  • PebbleHost: no Terraria SKU — Oceania notes do not transfer.

Buy monthly through the first week with your mod list loaded, measure everyone’s ping (especially boss fights), then commit. See the Oceania ping guide.

Practical shortlist (not rankings)

  • Want FAQ that names tModLoader + version-mismatch help: GameTeam Budget/Premium (~$0.49 / $0.74 per GB) — dial 4–6 GB+ for large packs; ping-test if Oceania matters.
  • Want AU/NZ/SG nodes + One Click tModLoader/tShock on Pro: Nodecraft Premium 4–6 GB ($19.98 / $29.98) — skip Budget Wake & Play when you need 24/7 persistence.
  • Fixed Modded tier + named tModLoader + tShock + FTP: Shockbyte Modded 12p ($9.99) or Custom 15+ ($12.00) — confirm AU node and upload path at checkout.
  • Lowest entry + AU EX hardware: Apex 2–4 GB ($7.99 / $14.99) or EX 16 GB ($71.99 APAC 5800X) — panel tModLoader type; Calamity one-click not printed.
  • Full tMod support + modpack clicks on BisectOne when stock exists: BisectHosting — price TBD on Terraria landing (~$2.99/GB network-wide); check Australia availability.
  • PebbleHost: honest 404 for Terraria today — do not force a cart.
  • Quiet vanilla / light-mod friend world instead: see Night 9 — different job, often Shockbyte Vanilla ($4.99) or Apex 1 GB ($3.99).
