Counter-Strike 2 dedicated hosting for a small friend group / 5v5 (2026)
A private CS2 server for 5v5 scrims, retakes or a custom map night. Shockbyte, Nodecraft and Bisect sell it. In CS2, ping matters more than RAM. Prices below were read from each host’s own page.
Slots, RAM and tickrate
- 5v5 is 10 players, plus a slot or two for a spectator or GOTV.
- RAM: Shockbyte offers 2, 3 and 4 GB+ tiers and lists RAM only, no player caps. Nodecraft says it doesn’t limit slots.
- Tickrate: none of the host pages we read lists a tickrate. CS2 uses Valve’s sub-tick system, so the old 64- vs 128-tick choice from CS:GO no longer applies the same way. We don’t claim any figure.
- Scrim tools: Shockbyte lists pre-loaded game configs, GOTV and demo recording, instant map switching, live match restarts and RCON. Bisect lists built-in CounterStrikeSharp and MetaMod installers. See Night 6.

Oceania: ping matters more than RAM
In a tactical shooter, ping decides peeker’s advantage and how fair trades feel. A US-hosted server is about 150 ms or more from NZ, which ruins a 5v5. Pick a Sydney or Melbourne node: Nodecraft lists both network-wide, and you should check at checkout for Shockbyte and Bisect (watch Bisect’s stock). If the group is split between NZ and AU, Sydney is the usual compromise. See the Oceania ping guide.
Budget note and shortlist (not rankings)
- Casual 5v5 or retakes: Shockbyte Silver ($9.99) or Nodecraft Premium 2 GB ($9.98). Both fit the ~$20 budget.
