Game server hosts that let you switch games on one plan
Friend groups rarely stick to one game. You do a month of Minecraft, someone buys Palworld, then Valheim gets an update and everyone wants back in. Some hosts let you move the same paid server to another game without buying a new plan, and a few keep your old world so you can swap back. This page compares what each host actually says about that. For the cheapest tiers see budget under ~$20; for mod support see mods and plugins by host.
What to check before you rely on swapping
- Is it a different game, or just a different version? Many panels let you change Minecraft from Vanilla to Paper or Forge. That is not the same as moving the server to Valheim. The table separates the two.
- Is your old world kept? Nodecraft and BisectHosting say your progress is saved so you can swap back. Where a host doesn't say, back up and download your world first.
- Does the new game fit your RAM? The plan stays the same size when you swap. A 2 GB plan that was fine for vanilla Minecraft can be too small for a modded survival game. Bisect notes a minimum RAM per game.
- Does the location still make sense? Ping depends on where the server sits, not the game. GameTeam and Bisect both say location moves are free.
Comparison: game swapping by host
Each host's own pages were fetched live on 27 Oct 2026 (NZDT). Prices are in USD as printed. TBD means the page had no clear figure or statement, and we don't guess.
| Host | Switch to a different game? | Games named | Old world kept? | Location moves | Approx. monthly (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nodecraft | Yes, "One price. 68+ Games"; "you don't pay extra to play other games" | 68+ | Yes, progress saved and backed up in the cloud so you can swap back | Check location list; TBD | From $4.17 "Swap to 68+ games, starting at $4.17" |
| GameTeam | Yes, "Switching Between Games" listed on Budget and Premium; FAQ says you can switch "whenever you want" | 70+ | TBD (not stated for game switches) | Free transfer, "no data loss", within minutes; 25+ locations | Budget $0.49/GB, Premium $0.74/GB |
| BisectHosting Bisect One | Yes, "Swap between them at no added cost" (minimum RAM required) | 110+ | Yes, instance manager saves games and configs; 2 instance slots included | Free location swaps; 21 locations, some out of stock | TBD Price loads by script; not in the page HTML |
| Apex Hosting | Yes, "Instantly switch between 20+ games" | 20+ | TBD (not stated) | TBD | Minecraft from $5.99 Shown with a 25% discount badge; recurring TBD |
| Shockbyte | TBD. Help pages cover changing server type (for example Vanilla to Paper) and switching instances, not moving to another game | 50+ on the panel page | Within a game, yes: new instance keeps old files (2 instance slots by default) | TBD | TBD for swapping Ask support before buying for this |
| PebbleHost | TBD. Pages we checked cover switching Minecraft versions and modpacks, not other games | TBD | TBD | TBD | TBD for swapping Ask support before buying for this |
Which one fits your group
- You hop games every few weeks and want to come back to old worlds: Nodecraft and BisectHosting are the two that say outright that saves are kept when you swap.
- You want the lowest printed price and mostly play one game at a time: GameTeam lists switching on both tiers at $0.49 or $0.74 per GB. Back up before you swap, since keeping the old world isn't stated.
- You only change Minecraft loaders: almost every host does this. See Minecraft free vs paid and the version notes on each Minecraft page.
- Size the plan for your heaviest game, not your lightest, because swapping doesn't change the RAM.
Oceania notes
Swapping games doesn't change your ping, so pick the location first. From New Zealand or Australia, a US or EU server usually adds well over 150 ms. GameTeam and BisectHosting say location changes are free, which helps if you start on a far node while a closer one is out of stock. Check each host's location list before buying; see the Oceania ping guide.
Price honesty
We list only what each host prints on its own pages. Bisect's plan price is loaded by script and wasn't in the page we fetched, so it's TBD. Shockbyte and PebbleHost may support more than their pages say, but we didn't find a statement about switching to a different game, so we marked it TBD rather than guess.
